Drawing Beyond Boundaries . . .

We have had a series of tasks involving song lyrics, mine were Helter Skelter- the Beatles, and these lyrics have been the focus of a collagraph print, a scraffito, and other drawings. This is my desk currently at uni for a DBB Assesment, and also two views of a concertina book i also made based on those words.

Tunisian Crochet Jumper: Progress. . .

It has been hard work and i am no where near completing it, however i have had some issues along the way, mainly that my gauge was all off cause i was using a smaller hook size, so after redesigning the pattern to work for the size of hook I had, realising i was missing 4 stitches for every 11 I had already done. Now im just concentrating on the colour combinations and hoping I wont run out of colours, cause I cant remeber where they all came from.....

Tunisian Crochet Jumper

Currently following a sleeve pattern, chain 30, increase every 5th row at both ends until row 58, so far so good. Im also playing around with two colour crochet to get an interesting stripped pattern on the go.

Transformers Tunisian Crochet Progress

The Transformers Tunisian Crochet is coming along nicely, unsure what to make it in to...a pillow, a wall hanging...only two more squares to stitch and then it will be complete letter N and E. Over the course of making this piece i have learnt that tunisian crochet is alot eaiser than i first thought, yet keeping the tension when adding in so many colours is tricky, so i decided to make alot of the letter designs alot simpler.

Transformers Tunisian Crochet

I really like the fairisle designs in knit wear and i was trying to replicate them, however i can only crochet and i found it too hard...untill i discovered tunisian crochet, a sort of cross between crochet and knitting, thankfully still only using one hook.

After getting into it I have designed and started to make 19 x 19 stitch swatches in the theme of Transformers, thinking of making it into a patchwork pillow...So far i have crocheted and the autobot and decepticion logos, a tape, and im currently working on megatrons face...

Wrapped Twiggs . . .

27.06.2010 - Is very pleased Aesthetic Outburst has displayed my version on wrapped twiggs on her blog.

Inspired by the work of Abbey Hendrickson and her Twiggy post on her blog Aesthetic Outburst I also wrapped some twigs for our front room which we are hoping to accent with the colour purple if we ever get around to do it.

Foundation Course Over . . .

Ok, offically it finishes on the 21st May 2010, but my final piece is finished and it has been screwed onto a board ready for the final exhibition open to the public in Hereford. I think it turned out great in the end although I obviously have some tweeks I would make if I started over again.

Crochet Shrug . . .

I have designed the pattern for a crochet shrug based a long strip of fabric (crochet) turned right sides together and sewn leaving a gap in the center the same width as the wearers back. I hope this design will turn out well. I have started to crochet a long strip interchanging wools randomly and weaving in thicker wool to give an added effect.
