After experimenting with some different stitches I found the loopy stitch which simply elongates one of the second yarn over in single(usa) double(uk) crochet. I have experimented with the stitch some more using two yarns at the same time, however i use only one of the yarns to create the loop. Also i found some rubber rings at the scrap store, inspired by Lucy Faulke's use of other objects within her crochet i have been trying out crocheting over them and with them like you would a bead.
3DSP is a module I am currently taking on my CAA Course, it stands for 3D Specialist Process. For mine I have chosen to focus on crochet, these images display my experiments with different materials all single (usa) double (uk) crochet, and a variety of different stitches some self made in 4ply yarn.
Back in 2nd year now and one of our modules is based on the National Trust property in Leominster - Berrington Hall, these are just some images of the work i have done since i went back. I am mainly looking at the marble in the opening hall and satellite images and maps of the property.
For Uni I am exploring crochet and traditional yarn crafts and i came upon the loopy stitch, once understood and practiced my boyfriend suggested I should make it into a bangle so here it is...
My boyfriend has been unwell, and this has brought out his creative side, he made me this bangle from a swan filters box and asked if i would blog it so here it is handmade by Dan....
I accidentally boughta ball of the wrong dye lot for the jumper I have started to make so instead of let it sit i decided I would finger knit the whole ball to see what it turned out like, after i'd started I realised it was quite thin, so I halved the ball of wool and used two strands to produce a thicker knit.
After i had knit the whole ball of wool i began to crochet a chain with my hands and sewed the two ends together to create a loop.
Thankyou for all of your comments they are very appreciated, and YES finally finished the Diamond Motif bag, I think it has turned out really well. It was a request from my sister and she loves it also.
My mum has asked me to crochet her a baby blanket for one of her friends at work, i have just started it, i like to have a few project on the go so if one gets boring i have another to carry on with. So far it looks like this although im not sure if the holes are a little too big or not...
Currently working on these crochet diamond motifs...I have 10, i need 14 in 3 different colours and 6 halfs of each colour, long way to go but im attempting to create a version of that bag.
My parents have had this three legged stool since they got married...inspired by a lot of the floral crochet pot holders i have seen lately i created a new crocheted top. Worked in a spiral circle, using only front or back loops, then the petals are crocheted on...my petals were (dc, tr), (3 tr), (tr, dc) each petal separated by 4 sc's.
Currently in the making, Im not even sure if i will work, I just loved the flower design and have slowly started working to a pattern which i think makes sense...all will be revealed if i get my act together and crochet some more...it would look really nice as a blanket as well...
After creating wax semi spheres i went on to cubes and had a lot of success here are just a few of the samples and also blocks that form the final piece.
Originally I had these flip flops in Lilac but the strap on the back had got looser and looser over time so i decided to replace it. After many different ideas I thought crocheting over some of the straps and creating crocheted cord which i could tie in multiple ways would be good. The straps are simply 6ch in the round with 12 single crochets to cover over the loose end then 80 ch to form the strap... simply thread the strap through the loop around the leather straps of the flip flops and you have straps you can remove if necessary. This could be done on any flip flop.
Following on from trying the flower tutorial I thought linking them would be good on a large scale like a blanket, this was my test to see how best to link them, works well as a contemporary doily / coaster.
The first item I've crocheted to the end other than a bag and a few pillows. I'm really pleased with the outcome - initially i was using a pattern from the April 2011 issue of In Inside Crochet yet i didn't have the correct hook size or thin enough yarn so it sort of didn't go to plan...this is why I'm pleased as i made it up as went along only using the technique of fillet crochet and arm design and attachment.
Working on the same project that started with holes and pot holes. These are some of the wax sculptures i have made based on the design of lines i created. One uses cut out of a map, and the other is just wax alone.
Currently we are working towards a final design from the material we gathered and created over our last module. Starting with pot holes, cracks in the road and knitted jumpers with holes in, i have created these few drawings slowly evolving and developing them.
I really love the idea of a QR-code, a way of hiding information in a geometric design, i decided i would have a go at crocheting one, unknown what i will use it for, and i am very happy that it worked and can be read by a QR-code scanner on my phone. Can you see what it says?? I used this generator to create the code.
After being asked to make a chair cover for a computer wheely chair which will be covered in retro game 8-bit designs i have been practicing my tapestry crochet so i can use a variety of colours. this is a space invader and a mushroom from mario.
Been making many scarfs at the moment sadly a bit off season but i love them soo much, i have been trying many different ways and this is my first attempt at Chevron Crochet.
Made this a while ago but as the boyfriends birthday was coming up i decided to do somthing with it. Crocheted onto a huge 58x58cm pillow, sooo very comfy.
Using images of pot holes and cracks in the road i created a few monoprints on tracing paper. Putting them back to back in the photocopier creates quite interesting layers, and build up of line. Just a few images of monoprints and then one i crocheted on top of adding texture.
Some shots of my Studio Space currently, working on a project Collections and Fascinations, i am looking into holes, starting with knitted jumpers, currently looking at pot holes, and cracks in the roads. Maybe trying to fix holes.
